Polytunnel salad leaves – December 6

This little bed of salad leaves is ready for picking now. It comprises  ‘Winter Imperial’ lettuce; ‘Lollo Rossa’ lettuce,  coriander and American land cress. The latter is a good substitute for watercress. I’ve used a metre square raised bed filled with soil and with a layer of multipurpose compost on top. I sowed the seeds in September so though growth has been slow – as you would expect – the plants are looking healthy and no signs of bolting (which you can get with lettuce when the weather is warm).
