Natural Wellbeing Week – 3rd to 11th July
An inspiring programme of activities, workshops, talks and walks designed to. . .
Relax, Uplift & Restore
From Sunrise Yoga to Early Morning Goat Walks, Tai Chi to Sound Bathing, this July, The Lost Gardens of Heligan becomes the venue for an inspiring programme of workshops, activities, talks and sessions; all created to leave visitors feeling relaxed, uplifted and restored.
But it is the work of Sound Artist Justin Wiggan (Internal Garden) that will astound many. An immersive sound art research performance programme, Internal Garden, deciphers the signals and impulses from plants’ biometric data via a MIDI interface. This is relayed to participants through a wearable Subpac, enabling them to experience a new perception of inter-species language. Plant and person becoming one.
“The experience has been shown to have a positive impact on health and awareness about the consciousness of nature” comments Laura Chesterfield, Head of Garden Experience at Heligan. “It’s an innovative way to create more meaningful relationships between people and nature, and just one of the many opportunities we will be offering visitors during our Natural Wellbeing week.”
An unmissable programme of events, in an extraordinary setting, with something for everyone. Visitors will be able to tap into Heligan’s Gardening expertise through a series of workshops; take part in a Family Singing Workshop (Sunday 3 July); join sketching and wildlife photography walks; take Guided Meditation in the Heligan Jungle; or, for the more adventurous, hone their survival skills (11 July).
“We feel some of these events are quite ground-breaking” continues Chesterfield, “all have been inspired by Heligan and are rooted in the belief that connecting with nature can improve mental, social, physical, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing. What could be more magical than gathering to hear the early morning Dawn Chorus and where else could you try plant immersion classes or sound bathing?!”
Set in the heart of the gardens, the special programme of events will enable visitors to explore the healing side of Heligan, reset their nature button and boost their wellbeing.
